Another long month of nothing

Pictures once more are on the skinny side. (not saying WE are on the skinny side . . .) but I've scrounged up as many as I could. It has been a rough month. I knew it would be hard to go back to school full time but it has been harder than I thought. I can't wait to be able to "lounge around" all day with my baby again. :)Juliet is incredible! She is an advanced crawler now, and can pull herself up on anything -- even a bare wall. This has come with a few bumps and bruises. We started "disciplining" her so she understands where she can stand and what she can touch and what she can not touch. Whenever she gets near the DVD player or the speakers we say "Juliet, don't touch that." At first she would just look at us confused and then go on ahead with her intentions. Then the taboo buzzer came out. She hates it!! If she disobeys we buzz her and she cries. It only takes her a few touches to realize which objects make the bad noise come. She has gotten to the point where when we say, "Juliet, don't touch that." or "Juliet get down." she knows that if she continues that dreaded buzzer will go off. It is funny to watch her because she really really wants to touch something but really
really doesn't want the buzzer to go off. So sometimes she just sits down to cry in frustration when we tell her not to do something. We are always there to console and comfort her though. She is learning fast. She is a doll and we love her!

Happy mother's day!!

I know we are a day late in posting for mother's day but I still wanted to thank all of you beautiful women who made this photo shoot possible. :) Enjoy!!!
Brett is out of town this week so no pictures of him -- also he refuses to let me take photos of him until his diet kicks in. :P

We had a nice enough mothers day. Brett made me a delicious breakfast and sprinkled the table with rose petals (which is what inspired me to do a photo shoot. :) He also has been trying all month to get me a new diaper bag, but couldn't find one he thought I'd like. So my mother's day present was an IOU one diaper bag. I'm sick of my current one because it is just one huge black hole -- I can't ever find what I need in it. It was free from the hospital, so as far as free things go, it was great! But Brett had to leave for yellowstone before church even got out, so my mother's day was spent as a mom alone with her baby. I guess that's fitting -- I would have loved to be pampered the whole day but I guess this is an accurate glimpse of my future.

School is going well. I am always tired, which is to be expected, and I'm also working as a spanish tutor which has helped our finances - I just miss my sweet angel while I am gone. Our nanny, Rachel, is amazing! We love her and love having her with us. She has been a lifesaver! I never would have been able to graduate without her. And I am going to graduate!! I just got my major changed and everything looks like it is good to go!!
Brett is in yellowstone this week. It stinks. But he is having a grand ol' time with his personal hotel room and jacuzzi. He should have taken me with him.
Juliet pulled herself to standing on the couch today. She is unstoppable. Her favorite pastime is pulling things off of the coffee table, her current foe. She can't figure out that crawling under it and then sitting up results in a bonked head. She is a super cutie and I can't get enough of her.

Well, that's about it in the life of the Brett Foutz family. We love you all and can't wait till we see you again.

Juliet vs. the Pancake

School is kicking my butt. Sorry it has taken so long to update -- I tried last week to update and realized we hadn't taken any photos in a while. So I've been working hard to take pictures this week.
In order to get them up here faster I had to make the files smaller. If you want the larger file let me know and I can email it to you!
It has been a pretty eventful month!!
We finally got a highchair. It just attaches to the table since we don't have a very big kitchen. Juliet loves it. She loves summer squash and peas, but still has a hard time with sweet potato and green beans. She of course loves applesauce and any other fruit she can get her hands on. We've recently started giving her table foods, and like a true Foutz, she loves PANCAKES!
As you have all probably heard, Juliet got her first tooth. I was oblivious to any signs of teething pains - just one day she stuck my finger in her mouth . . . and bit me!! It has since poked through enough to be visible (if just barely) in pictures, and has recently been followed by a second! She is taking it like a trooper. She has only been fussy a few times, but we blamed it on the awful cold she had. Both Juliet and I have been sick the last week and a half and it was TERRIBLE, but we are both starting to feel better.
Juliet has also started crawling. The video is a couple weeks old -- she is pretty much professional now. I wish she would have stayed immobile just a little longer! But she is loving it. She mainly crawls around on hands and feet - I don't think she likes the way the carpet feels on her knees.
It has FINALLY started to warm up around here. We still have a cold day everyonce in a while but the last week has been beautiful. I took Juliet out to play in the sun -- she doesn't really know what to make of it yet. She also tried to eat a dandelion which was pretty fun. Didn't much care for it though!

disunspectacularless

Nothing at all this week. Not even fun pictures. sorry!!
April Fool's day was fun except no one tried to fool me (I guess I am too keen) and Brett never has any fun reactions. I even videotaped him and he was so lame. oh well, can't have it all. It was a great trick to play on quite a few people though. Now I just have to come up with next year's prank. : )
Juliet loves the laptop. It figures that she loves everything she is not allowed to have. This one is going to be sticking metal objects in
electrical sockets! (Just as soon as she can get to them.) Which is any day now!! She gets her little legs up under her and looks like she is going to take off at any second. In this photo she is watching "Elmo's song" which she loves. Every once in a while I catch her singing along. I took her to the school's comedy troupe last night and they played a game
that involved singing and she was right there singing her heart out along with them. It was pretty cute. She didn't much like the applause and cheering though. Taking babies anywhere is stressful.
I have a new little project. I have two weeks until I go back to school full time so I have been working like crazy to finish all the things I've always wanted to do but never had time for. This includes making mattes out of wedding and family pictures, making a sock monkey (i have only bought the socks so far) and organizing Juliet's old clothes into boxes. Someone asked me to make them a set of bows for a baby shower gift so i've been working on those as well. It's actually an ingenious idea. Each bow has a snap on the back so they are
interchangeable. I made them as a gift for a friend of mine and now people are asking to buy them, so that has been kind of fun.
I asked Brett what he would like me to mention about him in the blog and he said, "hmm, uh, dunno, finals, uh hard hmmm... I'm busy right now." Yep, that basically

sums up his life these days.
One more weeks of school though!
And of course we love you all.

POR FIN!!

Sorry I have not up- dated in a while, it has been pretty crazy around here. Things are finally starting to settle down just in time for finals. Dreaded finals!
Juliet is doing really well on solids, the new difficulty we have run into is the foot. Apparently feet are much tastier than anything I can whip up. Dinner consists of "Peas, foot, peas, foot, peas, foot." It makes for a messy meal. She gets distracted really easily when she's eating which has been really frustrating for me. It takes forever for her to eat anything. She's crazy!
Easter was a lot of fun. We had fri- ends over for easter dinner and dying easter eggs. We had roast and potatoes and artichoke appetizers which was a lot of fun. Juliet wasn't that interested in Easter pictures so I didn't get any that I really really liked. Oh well.
Bath time has been a lot of fun since she is more active than ever. She actually rolled over in the tub this week. Can't take your eyes off her for a moment!
We are doing well. Brett's projects are going great. It has been nice having the drafting table because even though he is usually busy when he is home, at least he's home. I don't think we'd ever see him otherwise. I am excited and very nervous to go back to school full time this summer. We found a nanny who's going to be taking care of Juliet while I am at class, and that has been a huge relief, but I don't know how I am going to manage a house and get all my homework done.
I'm sure everyone has seen this video, but if not, it goes to show how truly advanced Juliet is.

We love you all and miss you.

Rolling! Scooting! Baby Proofing!

Poor little baby sickee!! It is so sad when babies are sick because when adults are sick they can just lay in bed all day, but babies want to play and snuggle and laugh and they just seem so sad! Juliet woke up on sunday with a terrible cold and this really weird swollen eye. I took her to the doctor on monday but of course the eye was normal by then and the doctor thought I was a dork. oh well.

In the face of all that adversity Juliet learned to roll over. She's rolled over a couple times before this but now she does it very consecutively. She's an old pro! She's also learned to scoot around on that silk blanket. She doesn't move very fast but she has surprised me a few times. Yesterday I came back from washing dishes in the kitchen and she had scooted more than 10 feet to chew on my leather scriptures. I guess it is time to baby proof! Or maybe I'll start making loud scary sounds everytime she scoots off her blanket so she will never leave it. Give that baby a complex!

Yesterday I was feeling skinny for the first time in a long time, so Juliet and I decided to have a mini photo shoot. It was a lot of fun but I didn't realize how hard it is to take pictures of yourself while holding a baby. So not a lot of them turned out. oh well.
I don't have a lot of recent pictures of Juliet and Brett together. We don't see him as often as we'd like, and I know it's only going to get worse. He's never home during the good light. We don't have any family photos either. I think we have one when Juliet was maybe 2 weeks old. I'll try to remedy that this saturday.
I was going to post pictures of the nursery today but since Juliet was temporarily moved into our room while she was sick, it's reeeeeally looking like a storage closet in there. No crib! So give me one more week and hopefully I'll get those next time.

Yay for weddings! Not really.

This baby is just getting more and more fun. It is sad that she is growing up so fast but also exciting how much more interesting she is!! I can't believe she is already 5 months old!
She has outgrown her bath. We use the newborn sling as a pillow but other than that we just stick her in the bottom of the tub. Her eczema was getting really bad so I drastically changed her life style -- but now that it is getting better I don't know what it was that was causing it! I guess the smart thing to do would have been to change one thing at a time gradually, but I just couldn't stand to see her little chappy elbows. So, we took her off rice cereal, I stopped giving her apple juice, and I started bathing her in oatmeal. Maybe I'll start reintroducing things into her diet and see if it comes back.
This week another roommate got married. Now all of us that are here in rexburg are married! Mom, you remember Chandee I'm sure. It was fun and kinda awkward to go, but oh well. Wedding's are more stressful than they are worth. If I could go back I would take the money dad offered and just elope. The big bow seemed like a good idea at the time. Looking at the pictures now it just looks a little silly. I have a hard time getting any kind of picture of her without a foot in her mouth these days. At least she doesn't try to sneak one in while she is eating -- I could see how that would get messy!
Kelli we love the silky -- thankyou!! It has been exceptionally fun to watch Juliet play on it. She just kind of slides around and every once in a while looks up surprised to find herself in a totally different place. I don't think she knows how it is happening. I'm sure it will be even more fun when she figures that out!!!
I just moved Juliet into her own room today. I'm trying to decorate it so that it looks a little more like a nursery but right now it looks like a storage closet with a playpen in it. Oh well. I'll post pictures of it next week.
