I didn't realize how bad it was until she wrote a letter to her Grandma (we shall see if Grandma ever receives it.....!!) . She dictated it to me and I printed the letter up as tracing letters so she could also write it herself. She would start her letters in the weirdest places. And even though she had those happy dotted lines guiding her way, some of her letters still ended up upside down.
Really? Man up little girl, this is not acceptable. Some things have got to change around here!
Welcome to pre-school boot camp!
Okay so it isn't as intense as all that, but we are practicing each letter individually. And I know there is probably some magical order you are supposed to practice your letters in, but we are starting with A because if it's good enough for the alphabet, it's good enough for me.
Anyhow, I will be making up some worksheets as I go along, and thought maybe some other moms of 4 year olds might be interested as well. So if you are, enjoy! They are basically practicing a specific letter, and then a tiny reading exercise at the end that highlights the letter you have been practicing. And if you have any phantasmic suggestions, let me know and I may mess around with them a bit.
cheers!

No worries! Really. She is the first, so you probably don't know that this is completely normal! Very few four year olds have the find motor skills to write well from the start (actually Brett did). She will get better. They really do get better with practice. And it is OK if she isn't great at it before school. Just have fun with her. You are doing an amazing job Kristina :)
